Veritas Forum

Hey everyone,

Well, I have only been on campus for two weeks and things are really moving. I have become involved with the Veritas Forum, an organization started by Kelly Kulberg, the woman who edited Finding God at Harvard. They seek to bring in speakers to introduce Christianity to the intellectually skeptical.

I will be heavily involved in the planning for the next event. We praying about who we will bring, but some names that we are kicking around, Anne Rice, N.T. Wright, Tim Keller and other possibilities. Please pray for us as we talk to these folks and extend the invitations.

Financial Support

To accomplish everything God has called us to do, we do need support. We roughly need to raise about 5500 dollars a month in support.

And this can be done in a number of different ways, one time gifts, monthly giving, sending a check to the CCO on our behalf or through electronic funds transfer.

If you are interested in giving to us, please contact me by email at jweyer179@gmail.com.

What's its all about

Hey Everyone,

Here is what we are all about, at least to start with:

The Ohio State University is the largest university in the country with 52000 students. It has the best football team in the country and is attracting students from all over the country. Yet, despite the greatness of the university, there is a huge, glaring need, a place for students to understand and develop a Christian view of the world through studying the Bible, culture and themselves. I have been called to this ministry and I am writing to ask for your support.

The Coalition for Christian Outreach has called me to this work. The CCO was founded in Pittsburgh in 1971 with the idea they would send missionaries to colleges in the Northeast. The CCO already has an active presence on campus, but there is a need for more workers, especially in the area of worldview development.

We will be starting a Worldview Café at a local coffee house where students can ask all their questions about Christianity. In the long run, we hope to start a Christian worldview study center. Along with these projects, we will be meeting with students, having them in our home, and developing disciples for Christ.

The Lord has pressed this need on to the hearts of my wife and I as we have met with students in the past year. Now that we think about it, the tug has been happening in the six years of ordained ministry in various churches, teaching high school and college. It has been really great to look on our lives to see how the Lord has prepared us for this work in our lives. Our plans are to start meeting one on one meeting with students, worldview discussion at a local coffee house and service projects in the community.
